Is it really LUCK or RISK .....

Is luck opportunistic?

I don’t know if luck plays an important role in any act of human life or it is just the right time that matters to get things done. Basically I m confused, if luck really exist and if yes, how do u prove it?
Many people say that a person needs to be luck to get certain thing, eg: a particular high paid job or a good car or the best house etc. etc. Is it so that only if you r lucky u can get all that? Can 99% hard work and efforts be less important against that 1% so called luck?
So is luck opportunistic? Is it selfish enough to be with only rich and beautiful people? Does it really knows whom to favour n whom not to. Is it to blame or mental guts play a vital measure to understand if it really helped?
Again, I might be contradicting my own words or may be I might differ from the actual topic. But you know, these r all my wage thoughts. Because I m trying to replace luck with a bit of risk.
Am I correct when I say that Luck is nothing but a bit of Risk?
Because all the rich, famous and beautiful people whom we say to be lucky have taken some or the other risk in life. Probably they have taken the right risk at the right time, as a reason of which they r what they r, if that small amount of risk that they played with had gone the other way they would have not been what they r today. Do I make sense when I say that?
A candidate might get that highly paid dream job by just answering a single question correct, correct means as per expected. It might be a stupid answer but a risky one.
A player playing any game needs to take risk while playing a particular shot. If he misses he is gone but if connected right he is the hero.
All rich n famous people have taken very calculated risk at a particular point of time, which makes them what they r today. Bill gates bloomed his idea from a garage and once when in debts, had offered a supplier 15% of Microsoft shares, guess what? The supplier said I have no interest or confidence in your business, I don’t need your partnership, give me my money. Imagine 15% of Microsoft shares $$$$$$$. Would u call that supplier unlucky? I would say he did no have guts to take a positive risk.
I dont know if i made sense, but i dont believe in Luck. I would say, its a little bit of calculated RISK.
Post your thoughts.

PS: Above article is just a running thought that i scribbed during my way back home. Was thinking about a few planned things in my life and trying to find reason for the best and the lost things that happened. Anyways ......

Hey,

I go with hardwork buddy. Luck is what comes as invisible when we never expect it.
Luck- it can come thru' someone who can be happy with your work and acknowledge it. For others its typical grab it and make others fail. You know wat I mean.

Its the timings and decision which makes thing go around.

Hope you are doing fine.

I believe in luck. Ofcourse, hard work is a must. I went thru times where there was only hard work from my side, but no luck in others recognising what I did. Now people will just expect you to work more than u do. That is what working is all about, do more and more, sometimes even out of ur limits. Check out my other link which I started recently about almost the same.

Luck and faith are kinda synonymous. Whatever happens in our lives, we say comes from luck or due to faith or karma.

I have seen really hardworking, really intelligent people going through bad phase of life. I call them unlucky ones. Just as I see stupid people getting rich with no work on thier part. Luck I guess was with them.

My philosophy in life is continue to work hard and let luck make its own mind. Atleast the probability of sucess with people who work hard is 99% more than people who just rely on luck.

He worked by day
and toiled by night
He gave up play
and some delight
Dry booke he read,
new things to learn
And forged ahead
success to earn
he plodded on with
faith and pluck
and when he won
MAN CALLED IT LUCK!!!!!

BUT AS THEY SAY"HOW MUCH LUCK MATTERS?? ASK SOMEBODY WHO FAILED!!!!"

luck is how people who sit idle reason for the success of hardworkers

So who is luck with, the guy sitting idle is obviously unlucky as he stands to prove

And the guy who worked hard got lucky

So Luck is opportunistic, it is with the guy who works hard

Ever heard

"It is not enough to be on the right track if you dont keep moving, you will anyway be overrun"

Cheers

Truly thought, Luck is a risk...n ya... in any work's result while diligence pays for 40% of success or failure, rest 60% depends on luck...I myself have experienced it...how luck can make or break a person...n from then onwards have I started to believe in it...

Hey...
"Is it selfish enough to be with only rich and beautiful people?"..Mow I know why I am pretty much alone :) :)

Personally I would love to tilt towards the concept of "being in the right place at the right time ", pretty much like staffing. Luck is similar to being in the right place at the right time if you introspect deeply.

Hard work is something we have all been told pays, I have never been hard working, never ever. Not because I hate hard work but I see things comming to me without doing it the hard way too and many will agree I dont deserve it and I would say others dont deserve many things or they are lucky.

In the end a combination of these as well as other unknown factors determines your success. And determining that is more complicated as success speaks many languages and there is no one true way to measure how successful you are as even the most successful person in the worlds eye may still feel he has to be successful in other aspects of his life. I derailed form the core topic but it is a life long introspection to get some answers and when you do some answer something in life happens that will make you believe otherwise.

Its true that luck cannot be an excuse for hardwork but I also do believe luck does play a factor in everyones life, however little it may be!

i think fate and luck are two different things...We make our fate mostly (not taking astrological effect into account)by the choices we make (which includes risk) and then our success in the endeavour depends on 2 cups of hardwork, a tsp of luck and a pinch of faith added according to the individual!!
