On 23rd September, i had been to Port Stephans, Anna Bay and the wineries. It was gr8 fun and an amazing experience. We had a early start in the morning, at about 7 am. Bought some chips, drinks and off we went.
After driving for about and hour an half we had a breakfast stop at Woung, its a side by petro stop which has mc'donals, coffee cafe and stuff. Just like a truck stop dhabba. Here we also saw some big truck as the ones that we see in some english action movie. They were all lined up, very huge and long.. After hogging some burgers we headed towards Port Stephan's.
(This pic was taken at the breakfast stop)
Another hour drive and we reached Port Stephan's at 10:30 am. Nice port, with the private cruises lined up for the weekend. We took our passes for a ferry cum cruise, for dolphin watch. And that was just fascinating. As we headed deep into the ocean, the blue blur of the water was just magnificiant. The dolphins we just poopinh up for not more than 2 seconds and going down again. I watched dolphins for the first time in my life. Was very excited about it. This dolphin watch went on for more than an hour an half and we returned back to the port at 12:30 pm. I can still feel that experience as i m writing this. Then we had bbq lunch at the port, with a few drinks and headed towards the Anna bay sand dunes at 1:30 pm.
Half an hour drive and we were at Anna bay. I couldn't belive the view. Ocean on one side and sand dunes on the other. Truly spectacular.
(One side desert and other side ocean, u can see them merge at the horizon.)
I staright headed for the sand dunes 4WD drive. And it was so much fun. Total desert, and u in a 4WD. Wow ..... just and experience i never had. 20 minuted and we reached the sand ski point.
(Thats the 4W we hired and that girl was driving it, terrific)
Sand ski????? Not joking, i did it. a 60 degree fall for around 30 meters deep. Huh .... can't express the feeling .... Returned back to the anna bay beach, spend some time in the water. Sipped some cold coffee and headed to the wineries at 4 pm. Reached there in about 30 mins.
(That ski experience was fun, i later discoverd heaps of sand in my undies when i reached home)
It is the largest sand pasture wineries in the southern hemisphere. And all the grapes trees are actually grown in that sand. As far as our sight could see, it was just winery. The best part of the shop there is that, we can taste any wine we want before we actually decide to buy it. And who wants to lose this opportunity. We tasted a few and bought some. Spend some time going around in the wineries and then headed back home at 6 pm.
(Sweet wine, hmmmmm ....... )
Straight drive for 2 hrs 45 mins and were back home. Had bath and hopped in the bed.
Good night !!
